The fight against corruption and abuse of office gets another boost as EFCC secured interim forfeiture against Mrs Ngozi Juliet Olejeme.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the federal high court, Abuja Division, on Wednesday the 1st day of July, 2020, granted an order of interim forfeiture in relation to 46 properties, including houses and parcels of land, traced to the former Chairperson of the Board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mrs Ngozi Juliet Olejeme.
The Judge granted the order in a ruling on an Ex-Parte Motion in Case No.: FHC/ABJ/CS/538/2020, brought by the men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and argued by their prosecutor, Barr. Ekele Iheanacho.
However, the Judge ordered the Commission to publish the order in a National Daily to enable anyone who has any interest in the affected properties to come and show cause within 14 days after the publication, as to why the assets should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The Judge adjourned the matter and fixed 27th July, 2020 as the return date for the hearing of the substantive application.
