Hadith of The Day: How To Maintain Friendships

Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, when a man among us meets his brother or friend, should he bow for him?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No.” The man said, “Should he embrace him and kiss him?” The Prophet said, “No.” The man said, “Should he shake his hand?” The Prophet said, “Yes.”

Yunus al-Sadafi reported: Al-Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “Being withdrawn from people will earn hostility and being pompous with them will result in bad companions. Thus, be between an introvert and an extrovert.”

Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever would like to maintain relations with his father in his grave, let him maintain relations with his father’s brothers after him.

Al-Mu’afi ibn ‘Imran reported: Al-Awza’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “A time will come to people in which the rarest thing of that era will be a friendly brother, or a lawfully-earned coin, or a practice from the Sunnah.”
