Latest reports has shown that Arsenal hope to announce a deal for Lille star Gabriel imminently with the defender ready to commit to the Gunners unless Manchester United return with an improved offer, according to reports. Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to have won the race for the 22-year-old centre-back after agreeing a £22.7 Million deal, only for United to make a last-minute attempt to hijack the transfer. Gabriel asked for more time to consider his options, having also been presented with an offer to join Serie A side Napoli.
However, Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Gabriel is set to put pen to paper on a contract with the Gunners and the deal could even be rubberstamped on Saturday morning.
The only stumbling block now is whether United return with another eleventh hour improved offer for Gabriel, with the Red Devils yet to follow up on their initial approach. Although Napoli had matched Arsenal’s offer for the defender, he prefers the deal tabled by the north London club and is excited to test himself in the Premier League.
In a further boost to Arsenal’s hopes of landing the Lille star, The Times claims Gabriel has already completed a medical at the club’s London Colney training ground. The contract he has been offered will run until 2025, with Arteta having made a new left-sided centre-back his top priority to strengthen the defence.
Gabriel will compete for a place in the starting XI along with 19-year-old William Saliba, who was loaned back to Saint-Etienne last season, as well as David Luiz and Pablo Mari. Arteta is prepared to offload a host of defenders once Gabriel’s signing has been confirmed, with Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi all up for sale.
Arsenal turns attention to the Netherlands and Ajax forwarder, who is very flexible in positions. Quincy Promes is a natural Left winger with a lot of experience, which is what Arsenal lacks at the left wing forward at the moment.
Promes moved from Sevilla to Ajax at a fee of around £14m and has netted 12 goals in 18 starts and 2 substitutes, i.e 20 appearances.
Promes will fit-in into Arteta’s style of play because of his versatility, he can play in Left Wing, Attacking Midfield, and in Right Wing as well.
If this deal is being materialised, Aubameyang will move back to Hispanic natural position (center forward), while Lacazette’s exit will draw closer. And help the young talents (Saka and Martinelli) to develop better and in the right path.
With Willian and Coutinho highly likely to come in as well, there would be many options for Arteta when it comes to selection going forward.
The former Gunners star, who joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer, is surplus to requirements under the new regime.
Ramsey, 29, started only 11 Serie A matches last season. But his wages of £250,000-a-week limit his options.
He is one of several big names Juventus are looking to get rid of this summer… continue reading.
Gunners Chiefs ‘Ignored Hojbjerg Recommendation’
Arsenal chiefs ignored a recommendation to sign Tottenham-bound Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, reports The Athletic.
The Southampton midfielder is due to join Spurs in a £15m deal, but the Gunners had also been advised to make a move.
Scout Peter Clark – who is among those being made redundant by the club – suggested Hojbjerg as a cheaper alternative to Thomas Partey.
Willian ‘Has Medical’ Ahead of Move To Arsenal
Willian is close to completing his switch to Arsenal after undergoing a medical.
reports the Brazilian has already been through all the necessary checks with regards to his fitness.
That raises the possibility that he could be unveiled as the club’s new signing this week.
Arsenal Aiming To Hijack Reguilon Deal
Arsenal are reportedly looking to hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign Sergio Reguilon by snapping up the defender themselves.
Reguilon, 23, has been attracting interest while on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid.
But The Gunners hold an ace up their sleeve as they hold strong links with his agent Kia Joorabchian, who they’ve been working closely with on the Willian deal.
As per reports from journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal and Chelsea are now in a four-way race to sign Reguilon with Napoli and Atletico Madrid also linked.
Gunners Look For Ozil Solution
Arsenal will make a new push to reach an agreement over Mesut Ozil’s £18m contract nightmare.
They are ready to make an offer to pay him off and reach a deal or subsidise his £350,000-a-week wages if he moves to another club.
Ozil, 31, has one year left on his deal, does not want to leave Arsenal and is ready to sit tight but the club want to find a compromise to help free up money in their wage bill for transfer business this summer.
There are no obvious takers for Ozil as there is simply not the money in Turkish football to make it a reality but the Germany World Cup winner was frozen out in the final weeks of the season.
They must now try to find a solution but it will be difficult with no obvious takers for Ozil.
Arsenal Set Guendouzi Fee
Arsenal will demand Barcelona pay £40million for Matteo Guendouzi – with Paris-Saint Germain having reportedly entered the race for the midfielder.
Guendouzi looks set to leave the Emirates this summer, having fallen out of favour since clashing with Brighton players during the Gunners’ defeat in June.
The French midfielder has attracted interest from Barcelona, and is one of several players Arsenal will look to sell to help fund Mikel Arteta’s squad overhaul this summer.
The club’s £40m price tag for Guendouzi would represent a serious profit on the £5m they paid Lorient two years ago – and would help Arteta in his efforts to sign Willian, Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes and Dani Ceballos.
Ozil Picture Surfaces
Mesut Ozil was pictured in the company of Istanbul Basaksehir boss Okan Buruk in an image that was shared on social media.
The Arsenal highest paid player has been in Turkey since prior to the end of the Gunners’ season, with Mikel Arteta allowing him to leave the UK before the FA Cup final against Chelsea because he wasn’t set to be involved in the matchday squad.
Ozil still has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, but there appears to be little chance of him finding a way back into Arteta’s plans as the long-running saga over his future continues.
Zaha Responds To Arsenal Link
Wilfried Zaha has hit back at speculation linking him with a switch to Arsenal by insisting he “can’t control everything everyone does.”
The Crystal Palace star may finally be on the moving following several years at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal were one of the clubs heavily linked with his signature last summer after he attempted to seek pastures new.
And an Instagram story has gone viral appearing to suggest that the forward is heading for the Emirates.
Zaha was spotted in a club in front of the sign in the background alongside the caption “So me and Wilfried Zaha have a message for you guys @Arsenal”.
But the 27-year-old has since responded on his own social media distancing himself from a move by saying: “I’m just enjoying my time off and can’t control everything everyone does.”
Willian Holds Luiz Call
Willian held a video call with Arsenal’s David Luiz on the same day he confirmed he is leaving Chelsea after seven years.
The Brazilian announced his Stamford Bridge exit in a statement, in which he also paid tribute to the Blues supporters.
Willian is expected to join Arsenal at the end of the month once his contract has officially expired at Chelsea.
Willian will put pen to paper on a deal worth £150,000 per week and link up with compatriot, and former Chelsea team-mate Luiz.
On Sunday, the duo spoke to each other via video call, with Luiz wishing Willian a happy birthday.
“Always together,” read the caption: “Happy bday my bro @willianborges88.”
Arsenal Looking To Raise Funds
Arsenal want to offload several players in a bid to raise cash for new signings.
Midfield misfit Matteo Guendouzi and Greek defender Sokratis are both surplus to requirements and they are looking to get Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s wages off the books by turning his loan to Roma into a permanent switch.
Arsenal may also sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles despite him insisting he is keen to stay while Sead Kolasinac could also be on his way.
Arsenal Plan Lacazette Sale
Arsenal plan to sell Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico Madrid as soon as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang commits to a new contract at the club.
That is according to a report from the Daily Star, which claims the Gunners are ready to sell the Frenchman in a £30million deal this summer.
That would give Arsenal vital funds to reinvest elsewhere in their squad, with Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah set to be given more first-team opportunities as a result of Lacazette’s departure.
Torreira Set For Spain Switch
Atletico are eyeing a move for another Arsenal player, with central midfielder Lucas Torreira a target for the La Liga club.
That is according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, which says the Uruguayan has been a long-term target for Diego Simeone’s side and a move may finally come to fruition this summer.
The Gunners could explore a potential swap deal with Atletico which would see Thomas Partey move in the other direction.
Fiorentina are mentioned as another possible destination for the combative midfielder, whose stock at Arsenal has fallen recently.
season that promised so much, delivered almost nothing but finally delivered something. The season started for Arsenal on a promising note after the Gunners splashed the cash in the transfer market on talented left back from the Scottish League, Kieran Tierney and smashed their transfer record to bring in exciting Ivorian winger, Nicholas Pepe from Lille. It looked like the Gunners were finally not just ready to finish in the top 4 but to also engage in a tussle for the title.
There was little or no excuse for their Spanish manager, Unai Emery, he was expected to do better after his first season where he “narrowly” missed a top 4 finish and got to the Europa league final. It was believed that with adequate signings, he could do better. Arsenal are not known to be heavy spenders in the market but the hierarchy did their best to bolster the squad with the additions of Pepe, Tierney and Luiz.
The first half of the season was a disaster, strings of draws and expected losses in the Premier League and Capital One Cup brought Emery’s reign to an abrupt end and Ljungberg did not fare any better in interim capacity. In came Arteta to face a monstrous challenge of redeeming things; bring Arsenal up the table, take the goal difference from negative to positive and make Europe.
Definitely, winning a title was not part of the script handed to Arteta. Who would have thought that the Gunners that were low on confidence on and off the pitch could go all the way in the oldest trophy in England? Arteta hit the ground running, got the players thinking straight again, desire restored and competition for places returned. Arsenal’s league form was far from convincing and the jury was out for Arteta after Arsenal were bundled out of the Europa League by little fancied Olympiakos. Arteta kept his focus and it seems it has paid off.
Arsenal might have finished 8th in the league, the lowest position since like forever but a record 14th FA Cup win has put a wool on that wound and breathe some life into a campaign that was considered dead, buried and never to be exhumed.
With the FA Cup win, Arsenal are back in Europe and have access to some more funds which would help Arteta in his rebuilding process. The Arsenal project is far from perfect but knowing what to do is key in completing the project. The win would go a long way in not only positively impacting the finances of the club but also convincing the biggest name in the team, the FA Cup hero, Pierre Emeric Aubamenyang to stay.
Besides financial expectations which is touted to be 250,000 pounds weekly wage demands, the Gabonese lethal forward wants to see ambition on the pitch. Arsenal have shown that by winning the FA Cup trophy. They not only have a cup in the bag, they also have a ticket to the dine at the table of top clubs. Europe is a big deal whether Champions League or Europa League.
Arsenal are champions of a major trophy and deserve to celebrate but they must not gloss over the fact that the team still needs strengthening. This is the time to delve into the market and get the needed signings. The signs are good but the right things must be done. Wenger was the past, Emery was a distraction but Arteta looks the future and with the right players, it might just be a bright one.
The men of Mikel Arteta have come out top at the expense of Pep Guardiola for the first time in few years and in the process broken the Manchester City record of 22 marches unbeaten in cups competition.
Arsenal under Arteta has shown great promise, though, it stand in the 9th position on the Premier League table at the moment without any hope of Champions League football next season, but the signs of the future is great.
Thrashing Manchester City 2 : 0 is not a small fit considering that it is one of the hope of Man City of winning major trophy this season. And now even though, Arsenal season is not as good as desired, but it still may hopefully ends well a silverware.
The outcome of Chelsea vs. Manchester United second Semi Final today will complete the match up for the Emirate Cup (FA Cup) Final to be decided in August.
The win coming immediately after Arsenal dusting the English Champion, Liverpool on Wednesday in similar passion, coming from behind to win the game 2 : 1 is a clear statement of intend on the part of Arsenal of what to expect next season.
The tactical superiority is fully responsible, as Mikel Arteta come with a game plan and in the end executed the game plan to perfection against Liverpool and Manchester City.
Concern over the future of players like Aubameyang, Lacazette leaving Arsenal for Champions League football elsewhere is likely to die off, as the team is obviously on the right direction. With transfer market ahead of us all Arteta needs are couple of option in attack and defence, especially the defensive midfield to support young promising players like; Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Reiss Nelson, Maitland-Niles and a world class holding and commanding playmaker to stand for Mesut Ozil who obviously has seen his better days in the Emirate to build a formidable team next season.
There has been a positive result for Arsenal fans concerning their transfer business this summer so far.
Reports from Russia and England shows that Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta has spoken to former Arsenal player, Andrey Arshavin to gather details about Zenit St. Petersburg’s Sardar Azmoun, following Arsenal’s interest in signing the striker.
The 25-year-old wanted by Arsenal is a goal machine that will surely offer Arsenal alot of goals if he is signed this summer. Sardar Azmoun, after signing for Zenith St. Petersburg in the year 2019, in a £10m deal from Rubin Kazan has developed into a consistent performer on the pitch.
The player has scored 26 goals and has provided 10 assist after playing just 45 matches.
Because of his wonderful form, Azmoun has been linked with a move away from St. Petersburg this summer, with Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Napoli chasing the player’s signature.
The young player is value at £22.5m by his club and Arsenal will be looking to submit a bid in that region, to be able to price the player away from Zenith St. Petersburg.
However, it has been reported that Arsenal are looking to sign Azmoun and has reportedly made contact with their former star Arshavin who currently works as one of the transfer committee members in Zenith.
The Gunners, meanwhile, are seemingly sweating over the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose contract expires next summer, and Alexandre Lacazette, who is also being linked with a move away.
According to reports released by AREA NAPOLI, Arteta has been in contract with his former teammate Arshavin over a potential deal for the Iran international forward.
Arsenal have completed four deals within a day and announced that 4 players will now be a regular face at the club in the coming season.
After a terrible run of form this season that has seen the club languishing in the bottom ten on the log table, Arsenal sacked former manager Unai Emery and appointed club legend and former assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City Mikel Arteta to take over the reigns of leadership at the club.
Yet, the appointment of Arteta has only seen Arsenal turn losses into draws and has even gotten worse recently as they are on a 3 game loosing streak.
Arsenal have announced earlier today that former Chelsea defender David Luiz who the fans had anticipated would leave Arsenal at the end of this season due to his consistent bad run of form and costly display of errors has signed a one year contract extension at the club.
Dani Ceballos who is on loan from Real Madrid has also extended his contract to the end of the season while former Southampton player Cedric Soares who is on loan at Arsenal have gotten a 4 year permanent deal. Lastly, Pablo Mari has also signed a 4 year permanent contract.
Arsenal are out of the FA Cup, the league Cup and are out of running for the EPL trophy this season. This major deals definitely should give them a boost to challenge again next season.
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a new faces at Emirates next season. They want to strengthen the backline as the current defenders are aging. The midfield is also wanting since Mesut Ozil is old and seeks to be replaced. Gunners boss Mike Arteta is desperate to complete a few signings ahead of next campaign.
According to Daily Mail Online, RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano is set to join Arsenal ahead of next season. They reported that the player and the club are in agreement and Leipzig is resigned to losing the defender this season. Seria A club AC Milan who were also in close contact have been told that the player is heading to Emirates.
Dayot attracted Arsenal’s attention during the January transfer window but didn’t secure his signature. The club wants to improve the backline after conceding many goals this season. Upon the announcement, Arsenal have received a great boost on welcoming the French superstar.
Upamecano was sent off in the game which Leipzig drew 1-1. His boss defended him that the current media speculation affected his performance. He is a prolific center back who will bring much to the Arsenal team next season.
