Daily Watch Press has gathered from reports making the rounds that Mikel Arteta led Arsenal have submitted a new offer for Lyon’s playmaker Houssem Aouar and the deal is close to matching the player’s asking price.
The gunners are in the market for a modern day central attacking midfielder as Mesut Ozil doesn’t seem to feature in the managers plans for the future.
Houssem has also been on the radar of Juventus and Manchester city although none of the clubs decided to pursue their interests in the player further.
Lyon had earlier on rebuffed a player plus cash offer from arsenal for the France international and were holding for only an outright cash deal.
Arsenal are now said to have submitted a new bid for the player who is rumoured to be interested on the move to north London this summer.
The new bid is alleged to be very close to matching the demands set by the Michel Aulas owned club and a response from the Ligue 1 side is imminent for the deal to go through.
Arsenal football club ended last season on a very high note by winning a major trophy, and they did this by getting past fantastic teams like Manchester City and Chelsea.
They have equally started this season from where they left last season by winning the first competition of the season, the community shield by defeating the almighty Liverpool on penalties.
There’s no telling to what this very Arsenal team could achieve this season with Mikel Arteta as the coach and making the right changes and improvements on the present squad.
Arsenal is yet to make any mercurial signing in this current transfer window, and even though the transfer window deadline day is still a little far, the league will start this weekend and it will be pertinent if they can do these things below before the end of this summer transfer window.
Sign Thomas Partey
If you take a critical look at the Arsenal squad, there is no clear cut world class defensive midfielder, and yet they can challenge the the best teams. What will then happen when they sign one?
I don’t think there is a team they will not be able to beat. Rumours of Arsenal trying to Sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid is widespread and if they eventually sign him, Arsenal defence line will be unbreakable.
2. Do Away With Mesut Ozil
Arsenal and the head coach Mikel Arteta should stop playing Ozil in the midfield because he seems to have passed his prime, but since he insist on staying and fighting for a place, he should be given an opportunity as a backup. But a new central and world class midfielder should be signed. If they can do this, there is no telling to what they can achieve this season. Ozil was a great play maker but we need to look at the future and not the past.
3. Retain Aubameyang
Arsenal need to do everything in their power to keep their captain and star player, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. He almost single handedly gave Arsenal 2 cups and with him in your squad and with a focused mind, he can get you any trophy you put before him. The only thing they should do is to offer him a lucrative contract extension and bring in a creative play maker in addition to Willian and Arsenal can be deadly. Not even Liverpool, Chelsea or the 2 Manchester clubs can stop them.
4. Sign Houssem Aouar
In addition to the above, Arsenal has been linked with with a move for the Lyon versatile midfielder, Houssem Aouar, indeed he is very versatile and can play anywhere in the midfield. His technical ability and calmness with the ball is top notch. If Arsenal can also sign him, they will have a near perfect team that can compete with any team on the planet earth.
So, if Arsenal can do these 4 things, the treble can be a dream come through for them. I’m talking about the champions league trophy, premier league and FA cup trophies here, it will be within distance to be only backed with luck and another invincible team has Come.
Should Arsenal put all the above into perspective, it will be very strong a team comes the 2020/2021 Season. And it will see the pairing of Willian, Aubameyang and Pepe in the Attack. While a possible alignment of Aouar, Xhaka and Partey in the Midfield. And the combination of Tierney, Gabriel, Saliba and Cedric Soares in the Defence. With Leno between the stick as first choice Goal Keeper.
To compliment the first team should be a strong youth team with some blend of experience, comprising of; Martines, Saka, David Luiz, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Bellarin, Ozil, Ceballos, Lacazette, Nkettiah, Nelson, Martinelli.
All other players should be sold or loan out, to create opportunities for young Academy players, so as to continue with the tradition of building the future teams from the academy.
Newcastle United are delighted to announce the signing of striker Callum Wilson from AFC Bournemouth.
The 28-year-old joins the Magpies for an undisclosed fee and has signed a contract that will keep him at St. James’ Park until summer 2024.
Callum Wilson said: “From the minute I knew that Newcastle were interested, it was definitely something that appealed to me.
“It’s a massive club with great history. Along the years, they’ve had great strikers so if I can emulate half of what they’ve done, I’d like to attempt that.
“I believe in my ability as a player. As a striker I think it’s important to set yourself goals long term and short term, and I’m hoping to achieve them.
In his first interview after signing for Newcastle, Wilson said:
“With the players around me, I believe we can get the goals we need as team and I want to help contribute to that.”
Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce said: “Callum is somebody I’ve admired for a long time and I’m delighted to get him.
“He has done fantastically well at Bournemouth and was deservedly playing centre forward for England less than two years ago.
“The club has worked ever so hard to get Callum here and we have beaten off competition from a number of clubs.
“I’m grateful the club has made it happen. Lee Charnley and those behind the scenes deserve a lot of credit.”
Wilson began his career at hometown club Coventry City, rising through the club’s academy and enjoying loan spells at Kettering and Tamworth before scoring 23 goals in 55 senior appearances for the Sky Blues.
After moving to AFC Bournemouth in 2014, Wilson fired the Cherries to promotion in his first season – scoring 20 goals in 45 Championship outings – before becoming the South Coast club’s talisman in the Premier League.
His performances brought full international recognition in November 2018, with Wilson scoring on his England debut against the United States at Wembley.
Arsenal turns attention to the Netherlands and Ajax forwarder, who is very flexible in positions. Quincy Promes is a natural Left winger with a lot of experience, which is what Arsenal lacks at the left wing forward at the moment.
Promes moved from Sevilla to Ajax at a fee of around £14m and has netted 12 goals in 18 starts and 2 substitutes, i.e 20 appearances.
Promes will fit-in into Arteta’s style of play because of his versatility, he can play in Left Wing, Attacking Midfield, and in Right Wing as well.
If this deal is being materialised, Aubameyang will move back to Hispanic natural position (center forward), while Lacazette’s exit will draw closer. And help the young talents (Saka and Martinelli) to develop better and in the right path.
With Willian and Coutinho highly likely to come in as well, there would be many options for Arteta when it comes to selection going forward.
The former Gunners star, who joined Juventus on a free transfer last summer, is surplus to requirements under the new regime.
Ramsey, 29, started only 11 Serie A matches last season. But his wages of £250,000-a-week limit his options.
He is one of several big names Juventus are looking to get rid of this summer… continue reading.
Gunners Chiefs ‘Ignored Hojbjerg Recommendation’
Arsenal chiefs ignored a recommendation to sign Tottenham-bound Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, reports The Athletic.
The Southampton midfielder is due to join Spurs in a £15m deal, but the Gunners had also been advised to make a move.
Scout Peter Clark – who is among those being made redundant by the club – suggested Hojbjerg as a cheaper alternative to Thomas Partey.
Willian ‘Has Medical’ Ahead of Move To Arsenal
Willian is close to completing his switch to Arsenal after undergoing a medical.
reports the Brazilian has already been through all the necessary checks with regards to his fitness.
That raises the possibility that he could be unveiled as the club’s new signing this week.
Arsenal Aiming To Hijack Reguilon Deal
Arsenal are reportedly looking to hijack Chelsea’s attempts to sign Sergio Reguilon by snapping up the defender themselves.
Reguilon, 23, has been attracting interest while on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid.
But The Gunners hold an ace up their sleeve as they hold strong links with his agent Kia Joorabchian, who they’ve been working closely with on the Willian deal.
As per reports from journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal and Chelsea are now in a four-way race to sign Reguilon with Napoli and Atletico Madrid also linked.
Gunners Look For Ozil Solution
Arsenal will make a new push to reach an agreement over Mesut Ozil’s £18m contract nightmare.
They are ready to make an offer to pay him off and reach a deal or subsidise his £350,000-a-week wages if he moves to another club.
Ozil, 31, has one year left on his deal, does not want to leave Arsenal and is ready to sit tight but the club want to find a compromise to help free up money in their wage bill for transfer business this summer.
There are no obvious takers for Ozil as there is simply not the money in Turkish football to make it a reality but the Germany World Cup winner was frozen out in the final weeks of the season.
They must now try to find a solution but it will be difficult with no obvious takers for Ozil.
Arsenal Set Guendouzi Fee
Arsenal will demand Barcelona pay £40million for Matteo Guendouzi – with Paris-Saint Germain having reportedly entered the race for the midfielder.
Guendouzi looks set to leave the Emirates this summer, having fallen out of favour since clashing with Brighton players during the Gunners’ defeat in June.
The French midfielder has attracted interest from Barcelona, and is one of several players Arsenal will look to sell to help fund Mikel Arteta’s squad overhaul this summer.
The club’s £40m price tag for Guendouzi would represent a serious profit on the £5m they paid Lorient two years ago – and would help Arteta in his efforts to sign Willian, Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes and Dani Ceballos.
Ozil Picture Surfaces
Mesut Ozil was pictured in the company of Istanbul Basaksehir boss Okan Buruk in an image that was shared on social media.
The Arsenal highest paid player has been in Turkey since prior to the end of the Gunners’ season, with Mikel Arteta allowing him to leave the UK before the FA Cup final against Chelsea because he wasn’t set to be involved in the matchday squad.
Ozil still has a year left on his contract at Arsenal, but there appears to be little chance of him finding a way back into Arteta’s plans as the long-running saga over his future continues.
Zaha Responds To Arsenal Link
Wilfried Zaha has hit back at speculation linking him with a switch to Arsenal by insisting he “can’t control everything everyone does.”
The Crystal Palace star may finally be on the moving following several years at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal were one of the clubs heavily linked with his signature last summer after he attempted to seek pastures new.
And an Instagram story has gone viral appearing to suggest that the forward is heading for the Emirates.
Zaha was spotted in a club in front of the sign in the background alongside the caption “So me and Wilfried Zaha have a message for you guys @Arsenal”.
But the 27-year-old has since responded on his own social media distancing himself from a move by saying: “I’m just enjoying my time off and can’t control everything everyone does.”
Willian Holds Luiz Call
Willian held a video call with Arsenal’s David Luiz on the same day he confirmed he is leaving Chelsea after seven years.
The Brazilian announced his Stamford Bridge exit in a statement, in which he also paid tribute to the Blues supporters.
Willian is expected to join Arsenal at the end of the month once his contract has officially expired at Chelsea.
Willian will put pen to paper on a deal worth £150,000 per week and link up with compatriot, and former Chelsea team-mate Luiz.
On Sunday, the duo spoke to each other via video call, with Luiz wishing Willian a happy birthday.
“Always together,” read the caption: “Happy bday my bro @willianborges88.”
Arsenal Looking To Raise Funds
Arsenal want to offload several players in a bid to raise cash for new signings.
Midfield misfit Matteo Guendouzi and Greek defender Sokratis are both surplus to requirements and they are looking to get Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s wages off the books by turning his loan to Roma into a permanent switch.
Arsenal may also sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles despite him insisting he is keen to stay while Sead Kolasinac could also be on his way.
Arsenal Plan Lacazette Sale
Arsenal plan to sell Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico Madrid as soon as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang commits to a new contract at the club.
That is according to a report from the Daily Star, which claims the Gunners are ready to sell the Frenchman in a £30million deal this summer.
That would give Arsenal vital funds to reinvest elsewhere in their squad, with Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah set to be given more first-team opportunities as a result of Lacazette’s departure.
Torreira Set For Spain Switch
Atletico are eyeing a move for another Arsenal player, with central midfielder Lucas Torreira a target for the La Liga club.
That is according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, which says the Uruguayan has been a long-term target for Diego Simeone’s side and a move may finally come to fruition this summer.
The Gunners could explore a potential swap deal with Atletico which would see Thomas Partey move in the other direction.
Fiorentina are mentioned as another possible destination for the combative midfielder, whose stock at Arsenal has fallen recently.
